intercept an unknown aircraft north of Kinross AFB. Aircraft was under radar control
throughout the
interception. Radio contact was lost and the unknown aircraft and the F-89 merged together on the
radar scope.
No further contact was made, and the wreck was never found. Pilot Lt. Felix Moncla, Jr and radar
operator Lt.
Robert Wilson missing. This incident appears quite often in the UFO literature, though USAF report claims
that the
aircraft that was intercepted was a Canadian C-47, but Canadian officials have denied this. A report
that the
wreck was found in 2005 has not been confirmed.
